"Articulate, well-read and committed to the future of McHenry County. We are fortunate to have Nick offer his services to the Board, and wish him every success in his election bid"

"There are few candidates with the background of volunteer efforts as Mr. Chirikos. He has devoted over 15 years to historic preservation in our County, especially saving our few remaining barns"                                                                                    -John Hammer, President:  Mchenry County Barn Preservation Association

"INTEGRITY and VISION for McHENRY COUNTY"

As a first-time candidate for any elected office, I am rapidly learning why so few people choose this activity as a full-time job. This is a daunting and expensive venture, and there are no guarantees of a successful bid for a seat on the County Board. Having said that, I have always relished being a part of intelligent discourse, and our present County Board is just such a distinguished body. I sincerely want to serve you in this capacity and humbly ask both for your support through the campaign season, and your vote on November 6th.

A NEED for BALANCE

As a former student of political science at the University of Denver, and a 35 year resident of McHenry County, I have had a unique opportunity to observe the political climate here, without necessarily becoming a part of that process. Domination by one political party has been the accepted norm. I believe that this is an unhealthy state for our County, breeding a sense of entitlement and comfort for local politicians. Year after year, their elections go unchallenged. Time after time, the same names appear, stifling honest debate and the presentation of opposing views.

 A RENEWED VISION

We are in the midst of enormous change in our country. Social, economic, climatological and political ideas are being examined by greater numbers of people, stirring public discourse and challenging long-held beliefs. With expansion of the greater Chicagoland Area nearing its inevitable end, I believe it is time for McHenry County to grow in new and exciting ways. McHenry County needs to renew its vision for employment opportunities, agricultural innovation, recreational activities and educational endeavors. We have the resources and we have the room. What we need is creative vision, and the political will to carry out that vision.
